David Wojnicki
Lead Pastor

David began his work in full-time ministry in 2003 when he joined the staff at VCCC as the Children and Family Pastor. After serving as the Children and Family Pastor, David served as the church’s Associate Pastor before becoming its Lead Pastor in 2015. As Lead Pastor, David is responsible for preaching on Sunday mornings and coordinating the pastoral staff. David loves helping people come to know and embrace the life-changing message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Before entering the ministry, David received his undergraduate degree in Pastoral Studies from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. David has been happily married to Hannah for twenty-one years. He is grateful to be the proud father of three remarkable young women: Elle, Adeline, and Cecie. In his free time, David loves spending time with his family at the beach, hiking, exploring California, traveling, and participating in various sports activities.

Jason Smith
Worship & Media Pastor

Jason joined the VCCC staff in 2012 and is the Worship and Media Pastor, overseeing the various elements of the Sunday worship gatherings, as well as the media and tech of VCCC. His desire is for the church to worship God in spirit and truth and to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through rich theological songs, prayers, and worship. Jason is married to Angie and has eleven incredible kids: Caden, Joah, Kate, Jeremiah, Caleb, Josiah, Casey, Jedidiah, Kallie, Jessa and Coda. He enjoys spending time with his family, camping, fishing, baseball, music, and drinking a good cup of coffee.

Paul Behneman
Youth & Families Pastor

Paul Behneman serves as the Pastor of Youth and Family and has done so since 2010. He has been married to his wife, Jami, for 20 years, and they have three boys, Jedidiah, Simeon, and Titus. Paul was born and raised here in Valley Center and deeply loves the community, church, and schools. God has given him a deep passion for helping Jr High and High School students know and love Jesus Christ more and more and experience God’s abundant life that is offered to us. He loves root beer, frisbee, woodworking, snowboarding, and family road trips.

Jon Walters
Congregational Care Pastor

Jon has faithfully served as an elder at VCCC since 2003. After retiring in 2008 from a 30-year career in civil engineering, he joined the church staff in 2014 as Business Administrator. In 2015, he stepped into the role of Pastor for Congregational Care, where he oversees the Men’s, Women’s, and Senior Ministries, as well as Counseling, Biblical Stewardship, and the Membership process. Jon enjoys teaching, boating, and gardening alongside Mary Anne, his beloved wife of 45 years.

Adult Education

John Wojnicki and his wife Laura have been married for over fifty years. They have four grown and married children and fourteen grandchildren, two of which are also married. In addition to serving as an elder, John also oversees Adult Education at VCCC. Teaching and training are his passions, and for over 35 years, he has invested in the lives of families even beyond his work in the church, speaking and teaching at family and youth retreats, encouraging all to an intentional life in Christ. John is an avid sports enthusiast, and along with his wife Laura, they enjoy learning about and visiting the historical places of our nation’s history.

David Baker
Executive Pastor

David and his wife Mary have been married for sixteen years and have two sons, Grant and Eliot. David began attending Valley Center Community Church in 2005 and met Mary on a VCCC college short-term mission trip to Uganda. Since 2024, Dave has served as Director of Finance, and in 2026 he became an elder in the role of Executive Pastor, overseeing the church’s resources, operations, Small Groups, and Assimilation Ministries. Over the years, he has served in numerous ministry roles, reflecting his deep love for the local church and his desire to see Christ’s people grow in faith, unity, knowledge, and faithful discipleship. In his free time, David enjoys woodworking, cooking, reading, studying theology and church history, watching classic films, and quite possibly being the biggest fan of the San Diego Padres.
